About

Early Life and Background

Mika Tan was born as Saraswati Miyoko Kop Taetafa on November 27, 1977 in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. She grew up in a culturally diverse family with her father of Japanese‑Samoan descent and her mother of Taiwanese‑Okinawan heritage. Her early childhood was shaped by a strong artistic influence; her grandmother was a well‑known dancer and singer in the Hawaiian islands and owned several massage businesses. From an early age Mika was exposed to performance and entertainment, and she worked as a child model for clothing catalogues starting around age 12. During her teenage years she also appeared as an extra in films and television commercials and took part in theatre productions and dance, including jazz and ballet. Mika’s academic path was as varied as her artistic pursuits, and she eventually earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and an Associate degree in Psychology from San Diego State University. To support herself through college she did nude art modelling and worked as a stripper, even appearing once on Playboy TV in a music video titled “Get in Where You Fit In”.

Entry into the Adult Industry

Mika Tan’s entry into the adult entertainment world began in 1999 after she was approached by adult film director Jack Pearl, who encouraged her to explore performing professionally. Her earliest months in the industry were, by her own description, some of the most challenging of her life. Despite that, Mika adapted and began building a reputation for her work ethic and willingness to push performance boundaries. Early in her adult career she met fellow performer Alec Knight, whom she married. Over time she diversified her work beyond straight adult films into fetish‑oriented roles, where her intensity and professionalism made her a standout performer in niche genres. Mika herself has stated that she considers much of her work to be in fetish modelling rather than traditional adult films, a distinction that reflects her personal identification with performance style rather than labels.
